Beer Bitty

Framboise and Champagne

02.13.13

Last week got away from me. Work was busy, life happened, and then I blinked and it was the start of a brand new week. Where does the time go?? All of the things I meant to do never got done. Oops. So I took today off. I love working at a job where I don’t have to call in sick to get a bit of ‘me’ time. Sure, I worked remotely for a large portion of the morning, but I was in pajamas with a basset hound cuddled up at my side. Does it get better than that?? I think not. It almost makes me wish I could work from home all of the time.

Around noon I closed the laptop lid and carried on with my day, which included:

Ingredients

  • Champagne
  • Framboise
  • Raspberries
  • Freshly squeezed lemon
  • Strip of lemon zest

Steps

  1. Carefully fill a flute (or jar) with chilled champagne.
  2. Add a bit of freshly squeezed lemon juice and a splash of framboise.
  3. Garnish with raspberries and a lemon twist.

While I’m not usually a fan of pink drinks, tomorrow is Valentine’s Day which means red and pink hues abound (and champagne is on sale). What are you doing for Valentine’s Day??* Or rather, what are you drinking?

As for this drink, don’t fuss too much with measurements; it’s better to pour to taste. Use a brut for a less sweet drink. Add more framboise for a stronger raspberry flavor. Prefer the pucker? Increase the lemon juice. It’s simple and delicious.

*I’ll be nerding out at the new Die Hard movie. Score! John McClain in Russia?? Good gosh I love bad action movies.
